This chutney is very quick and easy to make. Simply grate some coconut and add into the blending jar. In a tempering pan, add some oil and garlic, and cook until it gets some nice blisters. Then, add in the blistered garlic, red chillies, tamarind, and salt. Grind it all to a smooth paste.

Spicy garlic and coconut chutney
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh grated coconut
- 4-5 dried red chillies or 1 tsp red chilli powder, adjust to taste
- Small ball of tamarind
- 4-5 cloves of garlic
- Salt to taste
- Oil for tempering
Instructions
- In a tempering pan add some oil and garlic and saute for few minutes until it has some blisters.
- In a blender or food processor, combine the fresh grated coconut, dried red chillies (or red chilli powder), tamarind, blistered garlic cloves, and salt.
- Blend the ingredients into a smooth paste, adding a little water if necessary to facilitate blending.
- Heat a small amount of oil in a pan for tempering.
- Serve the spicy garlic and coconut chutney as a condiment with Appe,dosa, idli, or any South Indian snack of your choice. Enjoy!
