Spicy garlic and coconut chutney

This versatile chutney adds a delightful kick to dishes like dosa, idli, and appe, enhancing their taste with its vibrant flavors.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup fresh grated coconut
  • 4-5 dried red chillies or 1 tsp red chilli powder, adjust to taste
  • Small ball of tamarind
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for tempering

Instructions
 

  • In a tempering pan add some oil and garlic and saute for few minutes until it has some blisters.
  • In a blender or food processor, combine the fresh grated coconut, dried red chillies (or red chilli powder), tamarind, blistered garlic cloves, and salt.
  • Blend the ingredients into a smooth paste, adding a little water if necessary to facilitate blending.
  • Heat a small amount of oil in a pan for tempering.
  • Serve the spicy garlic and coconut chutney as a condiment with Appe,dosa, idli, or any South Indian snack of your choice. Enjoy!
